In the past couple of years the practice of detox and cleansing has enjoyed more popularity than ever before. With stars like Gwyneth Paltrow, Beyonce Knowles and even Oprah herself promoting the practice, it’s easy to see why.
In all the hype, the most important and, in my opinion, most effective strategy for detox is often overlooked: the body cleansing diet. It’s simple and inexpensive, but when it’s done carefully and appropriately the results are very powerful.
Cleansing with diet means that you avoid heavy foods that are difficult to digest and instead focus on eating whole, fresh foods. A cleansing diet program usually lasts longer than a fast or a limited calorie program like the “Master Cleanse” – up to 30 days in some cases. That’s a very positive thing for most people because the longer the program, the more likely you are to actually make significant changes to your everyday diet and lifestyle.
Fasting and limited calorie detox diets often produce a “yo-yo” effect in which people binge on junk food after the program ends. This is much less likely when you cleanse through diet. And yet the benefits are amazing.
